The base of DOT-3, or DOT-4, is the same but the additive package is different and these additives in the fluid labeled "synthetic" absorb water at a lower rate. They're all full Synthetic, every single one They're all full Synthetic DOT3.is a glycol base When I say all the facts, I mean the basic brake system parts that make up our brake system and why DOT3 is used and not synthetic. Read for yourself to have all the facts before experimenting. Your gamble with undocumented/untested long term use against the advice of learned engineers in the brake industry all too familiar with proponents for synthetics. Remember, you risk your life and that of others on the road when applying the wrong fluids specifically against recommendations from service manuals despite words to the contrary from 'experienced' people swearing that synthetics can be used. Unless you are completely familiar with braking systems and the rubber parts used, stay with recommended fluids. The use of any type of fluid other than the recommended type of brake fluid may cause contamination which could result in damage to the internal rubber seals and/or rubber linings of hydraulic brake system components. Do not use any fluid from a container which is wet with water. Use only DOT 3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed container. There are warnings in service manuals specifying only DOT3 fluid. DOT3 brake fluid is still a polyethylene glycol-based fluid, not synthetic.
